We fully support the proposal to prevent overnight anchorage within 300m of a build structures (cottage or dock). We are in the process of building a cottage in a small bay in Georgian Bay. While quite a few boaters are quite respectful of cottages, not all are. Cruisers often drop anchor less than 100m from our new dock, and make significant noise during their stay. Many boaters also drop their dogs off on the adjacent shoreline so they can do their business which is not picked up. Some boaters tie their boats off using trees and rocks on the shoreline.
In the process of developing our cottage, we have carefully followed all environmental protection requirements. We chose this location due to the amazingly beautiful and peaceful setting and have found the actions of some boaters problematic. Our understanding is that there are many other potential anchorage sites in the area that could be used by boaters to minimize the impacts on cottagers.
