Thank you for the opportunity to review the proposed changes and to submit comments. The online information held last Wednesday was also of solid value.

Today, March 15 2023, Council for the County of Peterborough received MNRF's correspondence dated February 24, 2023 informing us about the proposed changes and encouraging the submission of comments. After discussion, Council firmly supported the proposed changes contained in the draft especially those related to the meaning of watercraft and camping units, the harmonization of camping rules for residents and non-residents and the length of time/distance that camping can occur on water.

However, it is also believed that floating accommodations and on-water camping needs to be regulated.
The ERO posting does not address enforcement. This is a significant issue that needs to be carefully considered. A Provincial permit and location registry system together with a fee structure that is robust enough to finance the administration and on-water enforcement of such activities is required. Similar to land camping in Provincial Parks, the responsibility should rest with the Province.
