As a long-time island cottage owner, I have seen changes on our lake that are not all good. Boats are getting faster. Wakes are getting larger and more destructive. PWCs are moving way too fast, and way too close to shore to be safe. Our shorelines are being eroded. Swimmers are at risk. Many boats produce very loud sounds from their engines, and from their blaring music.
The last thing I want to have to tolerate is squatters living on the lake in floating homes.
Will they be paying taxes?
We’ve had to install expensive septic systems to be environmentally responsible, and to preserve the aquatic ecosystem. Where does the gray/ black water from a container home go? If it is classified as a boat, it should be registered as one. If it lowers legs to the lake floor, it is a home, and should have to follow all of the regulations we’ve had to follow as land owners. They should not be allowed to perch on a fragile ecosystem.
We don’t want floating container homes on our lake!
