Floating camp setups, because of their mobility, (particularly houseboats) create the opportunity for the users to "dump and run". This includes not only garbage but human sewage. On Lake Temagami, for exmple it is very common to see bags of garbage left on shore or tossed farther into the bush by houseboat campers. It's appalling. Also repulsive and hazardous and sadly common is the tendency to use shore or campsite stopovers casually as toilets because, hey, they aren't staying! Just pulled over for a "rest stop." I would like to see fines for this behaviour greatly increased along with increased patrols by Conservation Officers and Indigenous Guardians to educate and issue infraction fines.
