I live across the road from the proposed site with my wife and three young children. My wife and I have lived here since 2014 and thought this property would make a great place to raise our children. We have plans to build a new home on our property in 2024 for our growing family.
The continual dumping of large volumes of septage waste across the road is going to drastically affect my families well being. My family will have to deal with the smell of septage waste trucks continually dumping rights across the street while we spend time outside. With the extremely high water table of the area this will also eventually affect the well water that we all consume.
The City of London has a facility on the southwest corner of the city that gladly receives septage waste for $15 per 1000 liters of waste where it is properly treated. The applicant currently hauls their waste to this facility and has to pay to dump. This is a proper facility that is equipped to receive this material not an empty field directly across and beside from three residential property's. The approval of this facility will allow the applicant to reduce their expenditures for the disposal of the waste and will reduce the distance to haul the waste all at the expense of my family's well being and my properties value.
While preparing the proposed site they excavated a large pond without locates directly beside the large high pressure transmission natural gas line completely endangering themselves and my family and neighbors. By law you're required to always get locates before excavation and in this case Enbridge Gas requires a representative on site during the excavation to ensure no damage while working in the vicinity of large high pressure gas mains. If this is the kind of disregard for the law and safety while preparing the site I'm extremely concerned that protocols and procedures will not be adhered to once septage waste starts being dumped.
Why should this site be permitted when they have a proper dumping facility available to them? This approval will only help the applicant reduce their costs and get a competitive advantage on their competition at the expense of my family's well being. Would you like septage waste trucks dumping human feces directly across from your home?
