We are a farming operation who both owns and rents land in the area of this proposal less than one KM away , and have concerns about this proposed site, even though I understand the need for human waste disposal there is a time, place and frame work that needs to be followed to do so, such as a proper waste treatment facility, for example how towns and cities deal with the process, or much like how most septic service providers such as stool bus go to a proper facility to dump their load like in London, and not raw on an open field.
Knowing the area of this proposed site and the plan by the owner I would have concerns for this location as follows:
1. Remote location leading to avoided inspection and monitoring (also the berm at the road blocking the view of what is happening)
2. The area has very poris soil leading to a high water table that farmers and people use for drinking water
3. General storm water flow, given the terrain in the area, there is high possibly of over land runoff, we have personally seen many flood events in the area farming in this area.
4. Considering all the junk and lack of completed projects on the site, I have concern that the owners first priority is not care for the neighbour hood.
5. Many neighbours with family live in the area, and the area grows vegetable crops in adjacent fields, again posing a risk to food safety and heavy metals entering the food supply and potentially causing agribusiness to avoid the area which is opposite of the Strathroy Caradoc plan to attract more agribusiness
6. The applicant has had several failed applications since 2018 at three different location to do something similar.
7. Also I would have concern for fast nutrient buildup leaching into ground water, and lack of crops growing to remove this nutrient faster than its applied.
For these reason we do not support this project, and would like the MOE to ask more questions in regards to the above matters. Its one thing to do careful one time application of waste on a farm every 10 years, but I don't support a dumping site of raw waste.
