I am curious about how this Bill will impact unincorporated areas (Territory Without Municipal Organization) in Northern Ontario. There is a brief reference to a change to the Ontario Building Code Act 1992 with regard to inspections in those areas. Does the amended regulation mean the province will now appoint inspectors and issue permits for major building renovations and new construction in those areas? Currently, as I understand it, only septic systems and new electrical connections require permits and inspections. While the Building Code applies, there is no system in place to ensure it is followed.
