It's becoming rather embarrassing commenting on provincial legislation that's introduced to "clarify", "delay", "introduce consistency", and "apply minor housekeeping" to previous legislation: legislation that was clearly brought forward with insufficient consultation, preparation or consideration.
This Bill 97 does all of the above and then goes further to close loopholes in previous legislation:, loopholes like municipal Interim Control Bylaws and municipal requirements to supply infrastructure, that just further indicate hasty, inappropriate legislation design apart from intent.
This Bill as a corrective addendum to previous legislation, continues down a road that compromises municipal input into local planning to an even greater extent than previous legislation, while further increasing the power of individuals especially in Ministerial positions.
This is not democracy.
