I am in favour of retaining the existing policy which would result in eventually phasing out these facilities.
Sport that involves using animals (wildlife or not) in a way that will lead to misery is not something that aligns with social values in Ontario, or Canada in my opinion.
I am particularly opposed to sport competitions that assess dog hunting skill within these facilities.
I also have a number of questions. While the dogs are being trained, do they ever injure the other animals? What measures re taken if this happens?
It seems inevitable that the wildlife would be terrified most of the time in such a facility. What controls are in place to ensure humane treatment?
Would these controls be maintained in a system where a license can be handed off and the government simply 'notified'?
