I reject the proposal to allow new licenses for train and trial areas in Ontario, as well as the transfer of licenses. Wildlife should not be removed from their natural environments. Even though the proposal states that the effects will be neutral, this cannot be known for certain. While the populations of the species used as prey seem to be stable at this point in time, it cannot be predicted how this will affect them/the ecosystems they are found over a longer period of time. On top of this, it is simply cruel to take wildlife from its environment to be used as pawns for training dogs and in competitions. I believe that allowing new licenses for train and trial areas is a step backward for our province. We should be aiming to protect our natural spaces and the organisms that reside in them, and I along with many others will be sorely disappointed with the MNRF if this proposal moves forward.
