The commitment to pursue "no-regret" actions now is critical to ensure the framework and policies are enabled that permit the Government of Ontario and industries to be aligned in pursuit of energy generation supply initiatives are able to be acted upon in a timely manner.

As an employer of a business that supports both the Nuclear power generation industry, as well was the general production and manufacturing sectors, the importance of this is essential on a number of fronts:

1) We KNOW we are facing an energy supply deficit in the order of GIGAWATTS. If we are looking to ensure long term supply of low/no carbon reliable baseload generation, we need to facilitate the process of site selection and environmental assessments urgently so we have the option and optimized timeline to engage in discrete supply build opportunities without having to wait for siting and environmental assessment as a starting point.

2) Additionally, as we continue to attract significant investments into the manufacturing sector such as the $15B in EV related manufacturing deals (secured with LG, VW, etc.), and strive to 'green' our supply chain (through the conversation of steel processing facilities from coal-powered to electric arc furnaces, for example), we will need ADDITIONAL power generation sources

3) This doesn't take into account the increased energy supply demands required in electrifying our transportation sector.

Accordingly, it is essential we engage the implementation of critical "no-risk" decisions NOW to ensure we are able to engage in the needed energy supply infrastructure initiatives once they have been down-selected and approved, and avoid additional timeline delays that will be incurred in the absence of engaging the "no-risk" activities without additional delay.
