I strongly disagree with the proposal by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry to allow new licenses and transfer of licenses for dog training and hunting areas in Ontario. These facilities that use captive wild animals to train dogs to hunt are inhumane. It is wrong to take wild animals from their natural habitats and use them as bait for hunters to train dogs and for competitions.
Allowing new applications for these facilities after 25 years is a significant regression into the past. These facilities have no place in Ontario. Instead of opening new applications, the province's existing 24 facilities should be shut down right away.
