I’m in the minority here and against Bigwind Lake Provincial Park becoming an operating provincial park. For anyone that’s not familiar with the area, the park is surrounded by Crown Land, privately owned property that’s mostly used as hunt camps and a few cottages. Just a few kilometres away, Haliburton Highlands manages Poker Lakes which is backcountry camping on Crown Land. I believe this isn’t the right decision for the park and I don’t believe there has been any public consultation other than the survey on what amenities the park should have. It’s a beautiful area as the photos show. Let’s leave it the way it is.
