I am quite concerned with adding nutria and several fish species (which include pet fish species) as Prohibited under the Invasive Species Act. While the act does not specifically say the animals must be killed, the Act allows the destruction of invasive animals by any means possible, including with poisons and other cruel means. I agree that farming nutria (or any animal) for fur and farming invasive fish should absolutely be banned. But please create exemptions for captive animal sanctuaries that spay and neuter all their animals, or fish rescues that keep the fish secure in tanks. These charities could be registered and regulated under the act. Spay neuter and sanctuary programs work for feral cats. Humane, no kill options for the prevention and control of invasive species must be permitted.
