Regarding the Sargeant water taking proposal on Line 7 of Oro-Medonte.
Since this is a category 3 proposal, with the most extreme effects on the environment, I would like to voice my opposition to this in the strongest terms possible. Taking water from an underground aquafier at this rate will almost certainly have dire consequences on the environment and the local habitats, wildlife and community uses. It takes 100’s if not 1000’s of years for surface water to trickle down through layers and layers of earth in order to be cleansed and purified in the process. The water in Oro-medonte’s aquafiers are some of the cleanest if not most pure water on the planet! If people intend on using this water to “clean” aggregate and then allow it to simply run off to spill into the local environment, without the needed filtering to clean out the dust and debris, not even to say the consequentially changed chemical nature of the water (eg. pH, etc), it will almost certainly end up in some very sensitive local waterways, marshes, and wetlands. I urge for the sargeant company to complete a thorough environmental assessment first or to find an alternative, mechanical means to sort and clean its aggregate before relying on a thousands year old aquafier to do their dirty work.
