The Township of Oro-Medonte…

The Township of Oro-Medonte is committed to the protection of the environment and the Oro Moraine.

Therefore, we request that the MECP technical review of ERO Posting 019-7446/3418-CTMUQ3 strongly consider the long-term health of the local geology and ecology of the Oro Moraine and the related impact this application may have on local private and municipal wells and general groundwater recharge.

Likewise, should approval of ERO posting 019-7446/3418-CTMUQ3 be granted, the Township of Oro-Medonte requests that long term monitoring, reporting and publicly available annual reporting of groundwater quality and quantity, including but not limited to static water levels and flows, be a condition of approval.

The Township of Oro-Medonte respects the MECP commitment to “tackle climate change”, their “work with partner ministries, other governments, Indigenous partners and organizations, industry, stakeholders and the public” and to “use the best available science and research to develop and deliver policies, legislation, regulations, standards, programs and services”.

We trust & expect the MECP in assessment of this application, will apply these key principles in; determination of upper limits for water taking, and consideration of the long-term sustainability of the Oro Moraine.
