We don't believe that the proposed changes are to modernize its environmental permissions to be more efficient for critical infrastructure projects. We believe they are to short circuit the environmental assessment processes, limit or cut off public consultations, speed up permissions for industry with much less oversight, and much less true concern about keeping environmental priorities the top priorities. These are not smarter nor more efficient environmental permissions processes -- they would reduce Necessary checks and balances and instead encourage wanton building of commercial infrastructures.
* Public consultation MUST be formally included in the application process for all environmental projects, including stormwater management projects, nuclear facilities, nuclear waste management, land and water conservation efforts, construction developments, and all projects requiring an environmental assessment.
• Conservation Authorities MUST be involved in planning and oversight of stormwater management on these sites
• The aggregate extraction industry SHOULD be considered an ineligible industry, like mining, for EASR permitting
