Removing the requirement to inform Conservation Authorities about water-taking limits their ability to protect drinking water sources---These organizations have the deep knowledge of the watersheds, watersheds that traverse municipal and regional boundaries. They are best positioned to assess and advise --to minimize the negative impacts of some developer or provincial road crew--doing their own thing.
