2- Regulation Changes (for water taking activities governed by the Ontario Water Resources Act):

a - Streamlining permissions for water takings for construction site dewatering activities and foundation drain

Studies MUST be done on each and every site to fully understand the impact of water taking.

Public consultation and input MUST continue to be part of the granting of water taking permits. In rural communities water taking may impact residential wells and recreational resources. Local residents must not be cut out of the process!

We need to have our Conservation Authorities restored as stakeholders in the consideration and granting of permissions for water taking in any area. We rely on their expertise about local water conditions.
