As a vibrant democracy, public input must remain during licence applications. The process of aggregate removal poses greater potential harm to the safety and well being of communities, waterways and animal life. Given the risks involved, and the difficulty to reverse errors, those affected by the application process must have a voice.

As a conservative, it is most alarming to see my party no longer behave in a conservative manner. We must be slow to change, and only change when we have done due diligence and can foresee a greater net gain.

As a military member who lived in Germany for 6 years with NATO, I saw first hand how Germany despite having nearly 3 times the population of Canada in a space 1/3 the size of Ontario was able to collect aggregate without squashing the voice of the people. Canada must advance our roads and infrastructure, but not at the cost of becoming a puppet of the industry that will benefit.

• People need a voice for a democracy means anything.
• Foxes can’t guard the hen house. We can’t use the proponents “experts” nor can we rely on their self reporting. There must be oversight.
• Unlimited water taking? – Water will one day surpass personal information as the greatest resources in the world. How can the Conservative party give up control over such a currency? We are supposed to the party that knows how to control resources, not through them away. If we wanted give away assets, we would have voted for the Liberal Party.
• The economic gain by protecting areas near population and waterways, far exceeds any short term gains by an aggregate company. Let our greed be long term and not short term.
