The recent United Nations IPCC special report on the impacts of global warming states that the world has to make radical changes immediately in order to avoid reaching a tipping point by 2030. If that tipping point is reached, it will become virtually impossible to stop our planet from warming up.

This report only confirms what the world has known since the 1970s: climate change is occurring, and it is the result of human activity.

Given these facts, Ontario needs leadership from our government on climate change. As an Ontario citizen, and a parent of two young children, I am asking my provincial government to:

i) create a climate change plan to reduce emissions, help people save energy, and create jobs in a clean economy,

ii) legislate a price on pollution, making polluters pay for their emissions and returning the revenues to the pockets of Ontarians so they can lower their carbon footprint,

iii) create and adhere to legally binding emissions targets in line with our obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement,

iv) power the province with 100% renewable energy, including hydroelectric power from Quebec, and

v) end subsidies and handouts for fossil fuel companies, and redirect this money to funding clean energy solutions.
