I am opposed to this. There are good reasons based on science and fact and democracy that these activities were regulated.
If this proposal passes - water raking will take place without public consultation, without the need to notify conservation authorities, etc.
this goes against democracy where people have a right to comment how these activities will impact them and their environment. Conservation authorities in particular were put in place to protect us and our home/the land and waters where we all live.
They use science facts/ knowledge to monitor our watersheds and work with municipal infrastructure and more to ensure that human health and the health of our ecosystems are protected. Very severe potential adverse impacts to human health and the environment are not being considered at all and will be commonplace if this is allowed to pass.
I’m very concerned about this proposal which weakens any regulatory oversight, public process or science. This is not in accordance with the environmental bill of rights (1993).
This will allow a free for all without consideration of the consequences- please do not allow this to pass. It is akin to a child going to the candy store without its parent to supervise and prevent any adverse consequences. This throws away any democratic process. This is going backwards in evolution not forwards.
We need to protect our water, our groundwater, ourselves, our families and our home/land. People around the world are protecting their water -they are short of freshwater and we are throwing it away. Please don’t let this happen.
Thank you.
