Our group is opposed to this. There are good reasons based on science facts that these activities were regulated.
If this proposal passes - water taking will take place without public consultation, without the need to notify conservation authorities, etc.
this is counter to democracy in which people have a right to comment how these activities will impact them.
Conservation authorities in particular were put in place to protect us.
They use science facts to monitor our watersheds and work with municipal infrastructure and more to ensure that human health and the health of our ecosystems are protected. Very severe potential adverse impacts to human health and the environment are not being considered at all.
We are very concerned about this proposal which weakens any regulatory oversight, public process or science. This is not in accordance with the environmental bill of rights (1993).
This will allow unregulated activities to take place without consideration of the consequences- please do not allow this to pass. Freshwater is a commodity that is precious throughout the world. We are very fortunate in Ontario and yet we our throwing water out the window. Groundwater is precious. Water is life and without it life cannot survive so let’s protect it not throw it away. This is going backwards in evolution not forwards.
We need to protect our waters and our groundwater. Please do not allow this proposal to pass.
Thank you.
