While I definitely agree with leaving the Greenbelt without the developments for the rich developers I don’t agree with many points in the Greenbelt statute amendment act. I think that legislating that the 10 year Greenbelt Reviews can only add lands to the Greenbelt with no land removals or land swaps because it leaves it open to future land grabs by developers for any reason, including highways.
And decisions regarding the greenbelt should require meaningful First Nations consultation What they say should definitely be listened to, and not just brushed off. What first Nations say, should almost be taken as the new law because they’re more in touch and aware of nature, than many governments. I think that “Pay to Slay” should be abolished because it enables habitat destruction of species at risk in the Greenbelt and balance in nature, and something like bees, can have a disastrous affect So leave the land and species in their natural habitat, where it is now. Abolish the licensing of new aggregate extraction permits in the Greenbelt because that does damage to the land and eat away at the Greenbelt if too many licenses are given and if you haven’t noticed the trucks are huge and require a fair swath of land to maneuver through so there’s more trees and nature destroyed Because it would snowball because some politicians in certain parties, don’t believe a hell of a lot in protecting nature, whereas a number of residents in Ontario do for the same reasons I’ve listed in points I’ve previously made. Prohibit all Prime Agricultural lands in the Greenbelt through Conservation Easements,
end the grandfathering of previous zoning for development applications within the Greenbelt and this way peoples tax money isn’t wasted because of the government breaking deals, and being sued, which could potentially end up in court obviously. Once previous deals have been honoured leave the grand built Greenbelt, as is unless land is added to it with non-being taken away for highways; especially ones that make the same developers that we’re going to cash in on the deals Which were done away with because of backlash from the people of Ontario, who believe me to give a hoot or a shit about the greenbelt despite what the premier says. He isn’t talking to people who vote conservative or donate to the party.
