The Greenbelt, the DRAP Act with its easements, the Central Pickering Development Plan and MZO 154/03. This Bill does not restore all the levels of protection: The CPDP and MZO are not proposed to be reinstated and need to be. Without their reinstatement, in full, parts of the DRAP are threatened with development and we will quickly lose this precious ecological and agricultural asset.
We ask that all layers of protection that every level of the Ontario government supported historically should be put back into force to ensure that this invaluable land is protected in perpetuity on its own merit as well as under the umbrella of the Greenbelt.
Anything less falls short of the commitments of the current Ontario Government and the Premier of Ontario.
