Subject: Request for Expedited Approval of Wellington County Official Plan Amendment 120

We are writing to respectfully request your immediate attention and action regarding the approval of the Official Plan Amendment (OPA) 120 for Wellington County. The protracted approval process is notably impacting the timely delivery of over 5,000 residential units in the Town of Erin, including Hillsburgh, which is a matter of significant concern for all stakeholders involved.

The developers have collaboratively invested in critical infrastructure developments in the Town of Erin. This investment, made in anticipation of the necessary approvals, has been substantial and undertaken at considerable private expense. Noteworthy among these developments is the construction of a new wastewater management system, encompassing a state-of-the-art sewage treatment plant and associated trunk sewers. This initiative, funded entirely by the developers, has already yielded considerable benefits for taxpayers at both Provincial and Municipal levels.

It is imperative to highlight that the realization of these 5,000 proposed residential units is contingent upon the enactment of County OPA 120. This amendment is foundational, paving the way for the approval of the Local Town of Erin Official Plan Amendment 13 and the processing of various related development applications currently in waiting.

We acknowledge and appreciate your understanding of the critical nature of expediting approvals for shovel-ready residential projects. In light of this, we earnestly urge the prompt approval of Wellington County OPA 120 to avoid further delays and to facilitate the timely commencement of this significant housing initiative.

We extend our sincere gratitude for your attention to this urgent matter. Please feel free to contact us should you require any further information or clarification regarding this request.

Please see the attached letters from the supporting landowners group and the County of Wellington Warden.

Regards,

Tom
