The Council of the Town of Minto met on February 6, 2024 and discussed the changes made to the Official Plan which included adding additional lands within the Urban Boundary of the Village of Clifford.
As the Town has been actively working with a Developer to create a residential subdivision within former Urban Boundary and within the additional lands, the Council of the Town of Minto passed the following Motion:
MOTION: COW 2024-022
Moved By: Deputy Mayor Anderson; Seconded By: Councillor Podniewicz
THAT the Council of the Town of Minto receives report PLN 2024-006 regarding Official Plan Amendments 119 & 120 – Status Updates for lands within the Town of Minto and passes a Resolution, requesting the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing to allow the Provincially proposed Clifford Urban Boundary expansion lands to be added back into the Urban Boundary and that these lands are in addition to the Residential Lands identified as needed within the Town of Minto.
The reasons for this request are as follows:
• The Town of Minto and its residents are impacted by the current housing shortage and supports the Provincial amendment to add lands within the Urban Boundary of Clifford to allow for a larger residential subdivision;
• A developer has purchased lands within the Urban Boundary of Clifford with the intent of constructing a Residential Subdivision and has applied to the Land Division Committee for a Lot Line Adjustment to purchase and add these additional land to its proposed Plan of Subdivision; and,
• Clifford currently has the servicing capacity for these additional lands and a developer who is intending to develop these lands in the near future.
