As a resident of Dresden, Ontario, I am deeply concerned about the proposed construction plus waste site in our community. Dresden is not just any town; it's an agricultural gem in Southern Ontario and carries historical significance as part of the underground railway route. The establishment of a waste site threatens to disrupt this peaceful and historical community.
According to Statistics Canada, agriculture contributes significantly to our local economy with over 50% of our population involved directly or indirectly in farming activities. Introducing a waste site could potentially harm this vital sector through soil contamination and other environmental hazards.

Furthermore, Dresden's history as part of the underground railway route makes it an important cultural heritage spot. This heritage could be at risk if we allow industrial developments like waste sites that don't align with preserving our historical identity.

We are calling on local government officials and relevant authorities to reconsider this decision for the sake of preserving both our environment and cultural heritage. We believe there are alternative solutions for managing waste that won't jeopardize what makes Dresden unique.
