We are very concerned about this proposal.

The original proposal that Capital Paving submitted for this site was as an above water table aggregate site. We find it hard to believe that Capital Paving can extract such a large quantity of water without it affecting the water table. For that reason, it is incumbent upon Capital Paving to do the following:

1. Explain why they need to extract the amount of water indicated in their proposal - since it is supposed to be an above water table operation.

2. Provide formal/legal assurances that our watershed will neither be disturbed nor damaged.

We are strongly opposed to any ‘taking of water’ that affects the water table because it will significantly change the water table level in the surrounding areas.

We rely on a well for all of our water needs as do many of our neighbours. Our local creek - Hopewell creek and its riparian habitat supports wildlife and many native plants. If water is taken away from this watershed, springs will go dry, wells will go dry and what will become of Hopewell creek? Perhaps most importantly, what will happen to the quality of our water? Will it still be potable? If our access to clean and safe drinking water is compromised, will Capital Paving be liable?

What assurances do we have that this watershed will not be disturbed or damaged?

This Capital Paving proposal will drastically change the hydrology of the entire surrounding area and beyond. The flow of water will change its course and what will replace it?

There are too many questions that the community need to have addressed and resolved.

It is shocking that this proposal has even been submitted without any community consultation.
