Capital Paving should not be approved for a category 3 water permit, which is anticipated of causing unacceptable environmental impactor interference. In the area there are a number of homes and farms that rely on well water. The volume of water requested in almost two million gallons (approximately 7,570 cubic meters) of water a day. This volume of water has a high potential of running the existing homeowner's wells dry. In the summer months the homeowners can only water their lawns of even or odd numbered days. If it is a drier summer lawn watering and topping up pools is restricted. If Capital Paving is granted the requested permit they could continue using almost two million gallons per day (7,570 cubic meters). To put it in perspective our usage (2 people) from August to October was 18 cubic meters. Take that amount, and say the average home uses 4 times that amount and there are 250 homes in the area. That would be approximately two months of water from the residents equal to one day of water from Capital Paving.

On Thursday, January 18th, 2024, The Wellington Advertiser printed an article titiled "Auditor general: aggregate industry not in compliance; ministry not providing oversight". The article stated that there are high non-compliance rates within the aggregate industry which the ministry rarely issues fines or pursues charges. In addition, once approved, the township no longer has any say on what is happening on a site that may or may not be regulated by the ministry.

In addition, according to the auditors generals report, there is not complete, or accurate, information about the supply and demand for aggregates, therefore the need for so much extraction is not established or understood.

Due to the lack of reporting, studies and compliance it is NOT FAIR to the tax paying residents of Maryhill to give the right to Capital Paving to deplete our water resources.

Thank you for the opportunity to comment and I appreciate your consideration in declining the permit.
