I am highly concerned about the Ontario government’s proposal to allow the Minister to exempt certain projects from oversight. The OEB exists to provide accountability to energy decisions in the province of Ontario and does this as an independent organization watchdog from government. This Bill undermines the objectives of transparency, independence and accountability.
The policy locks in natural gas infrastructure until 2065 at a time when we need to be quickly transitioning to electric to have any chance at reducing the impacts of the climate crisis.
