My wife and I wish to voice our opposition to this proposed dump. We live in the city of Chatham, not Dresden. Our thought is twofold. First of course is the environmental impact on the Sydenham River watershed. The original dump in that area went in before people really cared much about the environment. Now the government preaches that we should care, and most people do. To allow this dump would be putting at risk many species that are already stressed.
Secondly, we also feel that the greater Toronto area should be handling their own garbage. Chatham-Kent already has a large landfill. They are good neighbours and stewards of the land. Anything we read makes us wonder if York1 would be anywhere as good.
