This PPS threatens farmland and water resources with unnecessary expansion into rural areas.
Your own report found that there is already enough land to build housing and, thus, infringing on rural areas is unnecessary.
Farmland is disappearing at an enormous rate at our peril in this province. Drinking water needs protection whether it be moraines or wetlands, lakes, rivers and streams. Infrastructure for rural settlement is costly and challenging to establish particularly in water challenged areas.
The additional of extra residences on farmland must be removed from the legislation all together. Development that requires septic and wells is fraught with difficulties and dangers! We have too many of those now.
Agricultural Systems and planning and Natural Heritage system concepts and mapping must be restored and expanded.
Housing without safe water makes no sense. Destroying excellent soil and sources of local food makes no sense. Consider the healthy future we must have rather than land grabs that are unnecessary and smack of corruption!
