Hello Premier Doug Ford,
I support Bill 185 and I hope it will correct many years of wrong doing with respect to decisions that were made in the past about Garner Road in Ancaster.
Background;
We have a family farm on Garner Road West in Ancaster Ontario. My parents purchased the 45 acre property in the 1960's. The size of farm has been considered a "hobby farm" as we have grown cash crops for many years.
The land south of Garner Road between Shavers Road and Fiddler's Green Road currently sits on the urban boundary and is the only section of land between Trinity Road and Hwy 56 that is not developed or designated for development. The remaining 30 km section is residential, commercial, business park, airport lands. To have our stretch of Garner Road in the Greenbelt does not make any sense. In 2005 our land was designated as Whitebelt. In 2016 the City of Hamilton put our property in the Greenbelt for no rational reason. We support the PC's decision to cut red tape so that properties along Garner Road can be removed from the Greenbelt and grow Ancaster for residential use. Currently the City of Hamilton is installing a major watermain down Garner Road for future development. Also, the City of Hamilton is planning a road widening of Garner Road of up to 5 lanes. It is evident that Ancaster is growing and it only makes sense to expand the urban boundary past Garner Road to the south.
Please review the stretch of Garner Road in Ancaster and if the PC government can do anything to expedite development it would be much appreciated. This is a beautiful area to develop a community of housing that could serve the businesses around it.
Thank you,
Garner Road resident
