Barriers to ARU's include:
1) No Public Transit;
2) Lack of infrastructure capacity to accommodate the addition ADUs (Pump stations capacity (big one for us), municipal water capacity, storm sewer capacity, lack of hydro infrastructure, etc).
3) Lack of snow storage areas here in Eastern Ontario where we get a lot of snow;
4) Lack of parking spaces for renter vehicles using the ARU's;
5) Climate Changes issues created by increased stormwater run-off from the higher density lot coverage and essential parking spaces (small villages/towns not equipped to deal with these issues - end up with more local flooding);
6) Require ARU's to be affordable to get discounts on Development Charges;
7) Lack of consideration of local community context and sense of space;
8) Lack of funding support for municipal infrastructure needed to accommodate the additional SDU's;
9) Too much snow in the winter months - no place to put it.
