Under Bill 197, WE are…

Comment

Under Bill 197, WE are unwilling hosts communities
35 minutes North east and South of Dresden, We already have 2 large waste facilities on our communities at Watford and Ridge and we do not want a larger one this close to our community, which is what York1 is proposing 500 meters from this town.

This proposal states Reestablishment and expansion of a garbage dump, waste transfer and processing station at the approved site for receiving, storing and processing up to 6,000 tonnes per day of solid, non-hazardous waste, including blue box waste, construction and demolition waste, tires, asbestos, excess soil washing and organic waste.. but isn't Asbestos, tires and silica dust hazardous waste? And You don't wash clean soil. we have read the reports of York 1 soil washing into the Don River in Toronto. Its full of poisons.
Asbestos and organic waste was has never been accepted at this location as it only accepted 95 % fly ahs and 5% wood and bricks

IF The ministry of Environment already knows and have heard the concerns and comments of the hundreds of people of Dresden and surrounding Chatham Kent, Dawn Euphemia area, about York1 Environmental Waste Solutions Ltd.’s proposal to start receiving waste at a local landfill site that has not been in operation since the 1980s.
WHY are we having to do comments again after hundreds of people already provided comments to the last 2 proposals in record numbers???

Also, IF you already know that an environmental assessment has never been completed for this site, because the landfill predates Ontario’s environmental assessment requirements for landfills and the minister of environment recognizes the potential impact that a landfill of this size could have on the local residents and the surrounding environment on a 24 /7 basis.
WHY do you not proceed with a full environmental Assessment NOW ??

In response to the significant public interest in the proposed project and the environmental concerns raised, in particular regarding potential impacts to species at risk, groundwater, surface water, increased truck traffic, odor, and other potential impacts to the local community, why are you seeking MORE comments on this proposal for a regulation that would, if made, require York1 Environmental Waste Solutions Ltd. to complete a comprehensive environmental assessment process for the project.??
Just do a FULL Environmental Assessment now!

If you already know By requiring a comprehensive environmental assessment process for the project, additional opportunities for consultation with Indigenous communities and the public would also be provided, why do you require more comments when you have already received a couple of thousand responded comments??

This proposal and facility should NOT happen because by now Bill 197 should have been enforced because this proposal is LESS than 500 meters from their southern border to the town of Dresden and lays in a FLOOD Plain and so does Dresden.

This entire area gets flooded at least 2 or 3 times per year and will cause much destruction to the environment and the town of Dresden, our homes as well the communities west of this town that also resides along the Sydenham River, like Wallaceburg and the nation of Walpole Island native reserve.

This proposal states "Re-establishing landfill operations, including construction of a new landfill cell"
if this is a NEW landfill then bill 197 should be enacted now because the ministry and york1 states this is a NEW Landfill.

This property has never been set up to receive 6000 Tonnes per day of garbage or waste as it only accepted fly ash previous 40 years ago.

York1 is piggy backing off and old outdated 40 year old ERO E.A number that should never happen. because this was a closed site.

Our Chatham Kent city council, Dawn Euphemia, Lambton County and Sarnia are ALL against this proposal so bill 197 should be enforced by this governments own rules regarding new landfills.

York1 V.P has outright lied in the words of their proposals and have also done fraud against Aviva Insurance and the province of Ontario if you read York1's own paperwork. The ministry needs to fully read what York1 has said in their proposal. A lot of it are lies and illegal documents used,

Why is this small community being railroaded into something we don't want when even the Premier of Ontario states if we don't want it here, it shouldn't happen. He stated that on the Windsor Ontario news on March 11 2024 on CTV News

Nobody wants this garbage dump transfer station landfill, less than 500 meters away from our town.
It will be the death of agriculture in this region and of our historic towns.

This agriculture region feeds Ontario and Canada. and supplies the NO NAME products.

Do you propose to feed poison vegetables to Ontario when this area floods and the leachate ponds overflow adding to the flooding on fields and into the spawning grounds of fish and wildlife habitat?.
It will also kill the endangered and species at risk in this area and also down river.
It will poison the water wells in this area.

IF you have already heard the thousands of negative comments and concerns raised by the local community and municipality regarding the proposed "reestablishment of this 40 year closed landfill operations and the reestablishment and expansion of waste transfer / processing operations at the site.
WHY are the residents and people of Ontario needing to make even more comments before you act and issue a FULL environmental Assessment?? This doesn't make sense to anyone and we all feel this government does not care about the taxpaying citizens that elected in this government.

Among the hundreds of issues and comments raised were concerns about potential impacts to species at risk, groundwater, surface water, increased truck traffic, odour, and other potential impacts to the local community. Why has an Assessment not been ordered by now?

We grown tomato's, corn, soy Bean and this area floods regularly, because it is built on a flood plain.

Order a FULL environmental Assessment now or enact BILL 197 because this is a NEW landfill and is less than 500 meters from our town!!
This is absurd to put this type of facility anywhere near and so close to this town in a prime agriculture region
Please put a STOP to allowing this proposal to go through because the vibrations from over 700 trucks coming through this town 24 hours 7 days a week, our historic buildings will eventually crumble and our infrastructure can not handle that amount of trucks coming through town with our children walking to schools so close to this site. The trucks will not be able to stop fast enough when bikes or kids run out in front of them. This is a small town and children and pets run around without thinking of huge trucks barreling down on them
