As a resident of the Region of Waterloo, I cannot support the proposed changes to the PPS and Bill 185, which are unlikely to result in more housing being built and will have devastating environmental impacts and other negative consequences for generations. Regarding the Provincial Planning Statement (PPS), I stand with recommendations to:
- Remove concerning changes to make greenfield density targets optional; on the contrary, existing greenfield density targets should be maintained or increased for all parts of Ontario,
- Remove the elimination of intensification targets, and increase and make mandatory existing intensification targets,
- Eliminate changes to permit new subdivision developments in rural areas,
- Do not encourage development on septic systems and water systems,
- Restore the Agricultural System and the Natural Heritage System concepts for the Greater Golden Horseshoe.
Thank you.
