Why are snares of any size still being used in Canada????? It's an outdated, middle-aged method of hunting.
In 1991, a European Union regulation was introduced prohibiting the use of leghold traps within the EU and the import of goods and products made from animal species originating from countries using leghold traps. Importing pelts of trapped animals is also banned.
How can there be any form of "humane trapping standards" without taking into consideration wildlife welfare and biodiversity?
Has the name "relaxing cable restraints" been used to cover up the immense stress, pain and cruelty these snares cause?
And where are these harvested pelts being sold to? Apparently it's not the European Union or many others, as methods like this have been banned including the import of furs harvested in this cruel method.
Apparently the Ontario Government has absolutely no interest is maintaining a healthy ecosystem and biodiversity free of cruelty and exploitation.
Wake up Ontario.
