I cannot support this process of increasing fines for erred, or lack of reporting.
When we were first told mandatory reporting would expand from Bear, Elk, and Wild Turkey hunting, we were told the primary reason to expand mandatory reporting would be to obtain better statistics on the various herds to assist in the proper tag allocation to better promote herd management.
This proposal is clearly all about increasing revenue.
All reports I have seen on the mandatory reporting is that it is better, or more successful than ever before.
Be happy with that result.
Continue to tell hunters that due to mandatory reporting, we are getting closer to where the proper tag allocation should be.
I believe increasing fines will encourage more hunters to not purchase a license.
It will promote poaching with those that do not have total confidence in the system.
We have lost a large number of hunters that hunt; let’s not lose more.
