I support the removal of the angular plane requirements for ADU buildings. I have been struggling to make a second story work for my garden suite in my back yard as we are trying to maintain a garage for parking my car which is an EV and requires a charger.
In order to maintain the garage on the main floor, all aspects of a 1 bedroom suite needs to be contained in a small footprint with reduced ceiling heights against 3 of the perimeter walls. This makes placing key furniture, or infrastructure like a fridge or shower difficult to impossible against these walls. It also increases the construction complexity and cost due to the need for trusses or additional complicated framing vs straight wall construction. It also limits the ability to use modular construction or pre-fabricated options as it all needs to be customized.
This requirement does not make sense in my situation as well since there are additional garages that are on each side of my garden suite and therefore will not block any sunlight that the planes might be promoting.
I strongly support the removal of this requirement.
