The consultation process for Bill 4 was insufficient. The current Ontario government has already shown their willingness to push through legislation in a less than transparent manner without acknowledging peer reviewed scientific research. Allowing Bill 4 to proceed would follow in this pattern.
Bill 4 does not:
Provide a plan to address the urgent reality of climate change.
Give sufficient detail about a replacement plan.
contain binding emissions targets.
Eliminates the most important policy tool: pollution pricing.
Additionally, Bill 4 hurts the Intario economy by closing Ontario for business to the clean economy.
Bill 4 fails to acknowledge our climate crisis and represents a major step backward in the fight against climate change.
