Full grown trees in Toronto cool us and reduce the build of excess heat in the city. We have laws to protect our tree canopy and we should have laws to grow it as there is a long list of benefits to having trees where we live. At the same time we need more housing, we are told. This not quite the full truth. What we need is more "affordable" housing that also keeps as many full grown trees as possible.
Removing FSI as is proposed risks the removal of full grown trees and does not increase affordable housing. It just makes more expensive housing.
It is for these reasons I object to the removal of FSI to build larger housing and garden suites.
