Given the recent UN report clearly and exhaustively outlining the detrimental impacts of climate change it is wildly irresponsible to scrap a program that actively worked to address carbon emissions while generating funds for public transit and other climate responsible infrastructure. That it is a program relying on a cap and trade framework in line with the one that just won William Nordhaus a Nobel Peace Prize is even more unconsciousable.
The time to act intentionally and decisively to counter the serious threat climate change poses to human existence is now. One need look no further than the countless evidence based reports and increasingly disastrous environmental events to I understand why. I do not in any way agree with the cancellation of this program.
