Bike lanes save lives. They allow our children to get to school safely. Kids who walk or bike to school are happier, healthier, than their peers that are driven to school. Their parents are happier. They create less congestion on the road.

Bike lanes increase capacity of roads, since they can move more people. Bike lanes are better for the environment. Bike lanes are cheaper than any of the alternatives. Bike lanes make streets safer for drivers. Bike lanes make streets safer for pedestrians. Bike lanes make streets safer for everyone. Bike lanes are the fastest, most reliable, most equitable way to get around in the downtown area.

You know all of this.

Choosing to make fewer bike lanes, or to remove bike lanes, is choosing to waste my taxpayer money to make people's lives worse, and will ultimately result in people dying. You're spending taxpayer money to kill people. You're spending our money to kill our friends, our children, our neighbours, our loved ones.

You know better. Be better. Their deaths are on you.
