This is a huge overstep of provincial power into municipal jurisdiction and an impotent proposal to remedy congestion. You don't need to be a civil engineer to figure out that bike lanes already reduce traffic by allowing people who would otherwise drive downtown to avoid using cars.
Instead of using up taxpayer dollars to remove existing bike infrastructure, improving public transit functionality and availability would be more productive. Then the premier can finally get the much delayed LRT running build the subways he loves so much.
