The proposal is not founded in any sort of fact. Increasing car lanes, especially at the expense of bike lanes, will worsen congestion. People will have fewer options for the type of transportation they use, which will cause them to switch to driving, increasing the number of vehicles on the road, which will worsen congestion times. Countless studies around the world conclude that expansion of only road networks for vehicles will worsen congestion and how long people sit in gridlock.
