The site plan proposed for 25700 Kerwood Road is wholly inappropriate for our neighbourhood! For our community the fact that this project has been okayed is unimaginable and beyond ridiculous. There are so many important facts and points that were not able to be addressed in the OLT case due to the nature of the case being solely about site plan approval and removing the H symbol. No in depth public health discussions, no discussions about clean drinking water as per Ontario’s Clean Water Act, no environmental discussions, no discussions about PFAs….other than a few glazed over remarks! This thoughtless decision with so little foresight will negatively impact the community and the Sydenham river system forever. The fact that this monstrosity will be the first of its kind in Ontario and it is being placed here in the middle of agricultural and residential properties is simply unbelievable. It's beyond ridiculous. This property is a groundwater recharging land. When there are any major storms or storm events as we have had in the past few years, the amount of surface water runoff from this field is unfathomable. I would be happy to provide video of storm after storm where this field despite it being aggressively tiled floods……straight downhill into the Sydenham River where we have species at risk, across fields where drinking water wells are, and through a field of cattle where the registered business sells grass fed beef! There is no pond or anything that can be constructed that is going to contain product on that land as there is always a voluminous amount of water that comes off that property in general. And where does it go? This location is so inappropriate as there are properties, residences within 400 metres of this proposed monstrosity. This industrially zoned land is adjacent to farms where families reside, rural residential homes, a seasonal trailer park, a renowned Ontario ranch business, a cattle business that sells grass fed beef;down the road is a school and to the west another hamlet of 30 homes and a wedding venu! Quite simply, this needs to be reviewed further. A few people, a few expert witnesses at the Ontario Land Tribunal that spoke about air quality or odour have not addressed the long term potential negative impacts that will be with us forever! We need to look at a four season biologic assessment. We need to look at PFAS as every time there is a storm event there is flooding. The nature of the OLT case prevented lengthy discussions about all of these factors that are changing our local landscape forever and leaving our children with an environmental disaster!! Where is the environmental study, the biologic study, a risk assessment study. Who is ensuring safety of drinking water? There is absolutely, absolutely no way that anyone who is protecting and looking after our environment and our public health would okay and approve this project.
