Please do not remove any bike lanes that have previously been installed in Toronto.
Biking is much safer and traffic has not been adversely affected in the vast majority of places where the bike lanes have been installed.
There is much evidence to support this. The city is safer for all road users.
Travel times on the majority of routes have also not been adversely affected. If Ontario wants to REALLY have more people out of cars and on alternative forms of transport then we should spend on advertising the benefits of using a bike for trips, not on ripping out infrastructure that has been proven to work.
Removing bike infrastructure is a waste of taxpayers money and is a regressive measure that is a step backwards in improving the liveability of the city for ALL constituents. It is also economically punitive to those who cannot afford a car. It will NOT improve travel times by car at all.
Thank-You
Asa
