This proposal will bring Ontario backwards.
Reducing infrastructure that allows for safe travel on a bike will hurt those who rely on this method of travel. It also goes against much of the supporting evidence of the benefits of biking (recreation and transport) for the individual and their community.
This proposal will not significant effect the "gridlock" and traffic concerns in a meaningful way. However- it will increase safety risks for cyclists, it will reduce to accessibility for those who are looking for a more sustainable way of travel and it will send a clear message that the province does not value this community.
Biking reduces the volume of vehicles on the road, it promotes community, connection, health and much more. By attacking a portion of the population that are contributing to our communities you are setting a large portion of the population above them.
