Especially given that the current government is supposedly business/results oriented and supportive of market-based solutions, I am very disappointed that the repeal of this legislation is being pursued given its proven strengths and application of rational economic theory to achieve the absolutely necessary, and immediate, need to address our changing climate and bad habits/historical modes that promote it. It appears with this decision that our "business oriented" government places hyperbole and marketing for short term gain over clear planning for long term prosperity and, indeed, survival. Cap and trade (or, for that matter a carbon tax --- not the same thing despite the campaign rhetoric!) is a a market driven solution, devised by economists not radical lefty environmentalists and many businesses and others support it. I would love to see this decision reversed and real progress to assist climate solutions continue and accelerate.
